ATTENTION PARENTS

Attendance
Per CCS policy, students who have more than 7 absences will receive a failing grade for the semester.

Parent Portal
The new Parent Portal is up and running!  Now you can monitor your child's grades and attendance at your convenience. Contact the front office for more information or to receive your username and password.

School Hours
AHS school day begins at 7:55 am and ends at 3:05 pm. Excessive tardies will result in detention.  Please ensure your son or daughter is at school and on time.

Lunch
Students cannot sign out of school for lunch.  Leaving for lunch is an infraction of Cherokee County Board Policy 4215 (see page 9 in your handbook).  Students leaving for lunch, or family/friends bringing food from restaurants to school, violates the guidelines for the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch program.

Lunch is provided daily at AHS and students are welcome to bring lunch from home, but there can be no outside commercial competition to the Free and Reduced Lunch Program.  Violation of this policy jeopardizes the Free and Reduced Lunch program for all students.

If students have dentist or doctor's appointments scheduled during lunch, parents will need to come to AHS and sign out their students in person.

Congratulations
Virginia Haynes, Cherokee County Principal of the Year!

Joslyn Parker, our 2014 AHS Teacher of the Year!

Congratulations

Congrats to freshman, Cody Smith who received a perfect score on the Microsoft Power Point 2013 certification exam.  This is a very difficult test and we are proud of all the students who certified.

Congrats to freshman, Hannah McCaw.  Hannah was one of 55 trumpeters to audition and was selected to the Western District Honors Band.  Way to go, Hannah!

The AHS Swim Team finished the regular season with the conference meet on Saturday.  Gabe Mosteller won the 50 and 100 free style races. Austin Trapp came in second in both the Individual Medley and 100 meter breaststroke.  Both young men have consideration times for regional qualifying.  Susanna Pullium won the 100 meter breaststroke and came in sixth in the 50 meter free style.  Olivia Brown placed fourth in the 50 free and third in the 100 meter free.  Carrie Gray has a consideration time for regionals in the 500 meter free.

2015 Athletic Hall of Fame

Game admission fees

It came to our attention last week that some schools in the conference are charging more than the approved amounts for admissions to games.

Admission for basketball games this season is $5.
Admission for regular wrestling matches is $4.  Tournaments will be more.
Baseball, Softball and Track will also be $4.

The Smoky Mountain Conference sets these admission costs.  If you are charged more than these amounts, please let Dane Rickett or Virginia Haynes know.
