Sign up for College Classes for the 2013-14: A representative from Tri-County Community College will be on campus on Monday, May 13th to register rising Juniors and Seniors for courses this summer and next year. Internships for Next Year: We have received information about internships at the following locations for next year. These are very competitive and applications are due in a week. The internships are: Engineering at MOOG, Engineering at Snap-on, Accounting with Cherokee County Schools. Class Rings: Jostens will be on campus on Wednesday, May 15th to deliver Class Rings. Rings must be paid in full to pick up. The 2012-13 Athletic Banquet: The Wildcat Club will host the annual Athletic Banquet-on Saturday, May 18th at the Andrews First Baptist Church. Dinner begins at six. Athletes are to bring the following:
Students may bring their items to the Power Puff Volleyball Game Friday Night or to the First Baptist Church on Saturday between 2:00 and 3:00. Congratulations to Cheryl Mason AHS teacher of the year! Yearbooks: Yearbooks are on Sale. The cost is $65 and can be purchased from Mrs. White.
Plants: As we begin to think about Spring at Andrews High we will happily accept donations of inside and outside plants. Just let us know if you have things to donate and we will be happy to pick them up.
Tardies: This semester, students who are tardy to school or class may be assigned ISS. Excessive tardies will lead to ISS and excessive ISS assignments will lead to Out of School Suspension. Read the Weekly Wildcat Newsletter ![]() Student Health Center: Students must return the information sheet that was sent home in order for the student to be seen in the Student Health Center. The Health Department part is now open to all Andrews Community Members. The office hours are Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30pm. Additional copies of the forms are available at AHS and at the Health Center. | Annual Power Puff Game: The Annual Power Puff Game will be held on Friday, May 17th in the Gym. Games begin at 6:00pm. Admission is $3 and the proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation to fight Breast Cancer. The Freshmen will play the Juniors first and then the Sophomores will play the Seniors. The winners of each game will play against each other, with the winners playing AHS Volleyball Alumni. Please come out and support this great cause.Sports Physicals for 2013-14: The Andrews Health Department will be having Sports Physicals for our athletes on Monday, May 13 from 3:30 to 6:30. The cost is $10. All students planning to participate next year will need to have a current physical on file. Saturday School for Attendance: Students who have missed more than 7 absences in any of their classes may attend Saturday School on Saturday, May 18th to make up 1, 2, 3 or 4 class periods. Home School Students: If you have friends or neighbors who currently home school their high school students but are considering having them attend AHS, we would love to include them in the registration process. If they have questions about AHS or would like to attend the 8th grade dinner and registration workshops, they are welcome to join us. Class Dues: Andrews High School does not hold school wide or class wide fundraisers. Instead students are ask to pay “Class Dues” of $20 per year. This money is used to cover Class expenses and events such as Homecoming, Prom and Graduation. Dues may be paid at any time to Ms. Gilbert however; students must be current on dues to attend the Prom as a Junior or Senior or to be a guest of a Junior or Senior. New Residents/ Addresses/Phone numbers: If you know of new families that have moved into the Andrews area with High School Age families please have them come by AHS on Wednesday, January 2nd to register. Also, if you know anyone who would like to be added to this newsletter, please have them send email address to virginia.haynes@cherokee.k12.nc.us.
