Kattia Higdon, is our Spanish teacher. She is originally from Costa Rica which is located in Central America. Kattia's hometown is Cartago which was the capital of Costa Rica until 1823, now it is San José.

She grew up in Paraíso (Paradise), city of Cartago, attending a local elementary school and high school.  She furthered her education by graduating with a bachelor degree in Elementary Education from Universidad de Costa Rica (University of Costa Rica) in San José.  Her first three years were spend teaching 5th grade. It was a year later when she met Steve Higdon; they were married and moved to USA.

Here in the states she volunteered at Hiwassee Dam School teaching Spanish. She was then hired to teach PK through 8th grade for two years at the same school. In the meantime, Kattia attended Western Carolina University where she obtained a  license to teach Spanish as a second language. This enabled Kattia to join the Andrews Schools teaching Spanish at both Andrews Middle and High Schools.
